Review of Laws of Attraction (2004) by Thomas S — 19 Jun 2009
Sure there's really nothing special about Laws of attraction, what with critics calling it forgettable and all, or a rip off of some other movie I'd never heard of. So maybe it's because for once I wasn't jaded when I first watched this, and really had no expectations for it, that I actually liked it. Not just liked it really, but actually loved it. This is the type of movie that's worth watching just to see the quirky characters interact with each other, and really, all movies like this are inherently predicable anyway, so claiming the unoriginality of the plot as a fault is like like faulting the Nintendo Wii for being gimmicky.
So, you may not like this movie, as the critics certainly didn't like this movie... but I sure like this movie and find it a pleasure to watch when I just need something to relax in front of. (plus it has a lot of quotable lines, and I like those).
