Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Joey A — 23 Sep 2010
Absolutely one of my all-time favourites - would not want to be stranded on a desert island without it :) Peter O'Toole is absolutely brilliant as the conflicted and complicated T.E. Lawrence battling the demons within himself at the same time as he tries desperately to unify the Arab tribes in a greater cause.
In fact I find it impossible to believe that he did not get the Oscar for his role in this sprawling epic. David Lean is a wonderful storyteller and his direction and cinematography is superb. A film for the ages - I could watch it again and again and it's almost 50 years old now !
