Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Peter D — 07 May 2011
One of the longest movies ever and one of the greatest. Lawrence of Arabia is as incredible as films get, a sweeping epic that doubles as a character study it is pure cinematic bliss. A perfect subtle performance by Peter O'toole as T.
E Lawrence a man who despite his British upbringing feels more at home in the arid deserts of the middle east than he does on the streets of London. Unlike his military superiors Lawrence helped the Arabs out of sheer admiration for them, rather than because it would help the British empire.
Containing beautifully filmed epic battle sequences, air tight dialogue, stupendous acting, delightful music and of course cinematography that makes you feels as if you are right there in the beautiful ,but harsh desert itself.
A film of beauty, intelligence and wonder Lawrence of Arabia still holds up after nearly 50 years.
