Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Yavuz I — 04 Jun 2012
Lawrence of Arabia is the story of a man name T.E. Lawrence, who in the simplest terms, was a hero. This character is based off a real man, but this masterful script perfectly shows his love of danger and willingness to help the Arab people.
A hero would be an understatement for this man, but this character is also so complex that I think nobody will truly understand him, but what we do understand is that this script depicts him brilliantly.
This 3 hour epic is work of art and truly shows what a single person can do to save an entire group of people. I think that is a major theme of this film, that even though he was just one man he still was able to do all that with nothing but his knowledge and bravery.
Peter O'Toole plays the character brilliantly, and its probably one of the greatest performances I have ever seen in a film. There is one scene where he witnesses a young boy be swallowed by quicksand and he is helpless to save him, and his reaction was so beautifully haunting that it showed me what a true actor can do.
This entire cast was brilliant and all deserved credit, ecspically Alec Guiness who blew me away. This film has been hailed as one of the greatest films of all time, and I can say I agree with that statement.
This brilliant work of art was directed by the great David Lean, who uses the broad landscapes and brilliant cinematography to create a genius film. The score is what adds to the movies greatness, and I can say that whenever I witnessed him going through the desert the music just flowed brilliantly with the scene, and I just was taken away.
This film takes respect to this incredible man who lived an extraordinary life with many incredible accomplishments, and this poem will be remembered for decades to come as one of the greatest films of all time.
