Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Stephen E — 03 Nov 2012
Yeah, it kind of goes without saying that "Lawrence of Arabia" is a remarkable epic, for few films are as technically accomplished as it. David Lean's focused direction is perhaps the biggest reason why it succeeds, but Peter O'Toole's eccentric lead performance is also credible to the film's greatness.
As well, "Lawrence of Arabia" is cinematographically gorgeous and beautifully designed, which makes a strong contender for the best produced film of all time. While I find it great because of its historical significance rather than entertainment value, it's much more interesting than I had originally anticipated.
