Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Ben B — 23 Jul 2014
'Lawrence of Arabia' is a film that whose strengths are also its weaknesses. Its scale and length is magnificent but it often leaves you battling to continue watching. The performance by Peter O'Toole as the title character is legendary and one that will continue to challenge actors today to meet the standard that O'Toole set with his confident, conflicted, and ultimately dejected Lawrence.
'Lawrence of Arabia' also gives a good example of how to treat a film based on true events. Directors, screenwriters, and co. must be thorough, sensitive to the times, and capture all the important moments.
At times it does seem like much, but this film does accomplish its goals and it deserves its place in the pantheon of important films.
