Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Jay L — 25 Jun 2011
"UNITE, FIGHT, TRIUMPH.".
A sweepingly vast historical and biographical epic from Director David Lean (Bridge On The River Kwai). A spectacular masterpiece that's unmatched in it's incredible scope and breathtaking realism. Lawrence Of Arabia is an Award Winning early 60's classic that many believe to be one of the best films to ever be made, and deservingly so. It's a brooding and amazingly beautiful piece of legendary craftmanship, an icon in the history of film that will never be matched in detail. A towering and triumphant work of mastery that just takes your breath away. The manpower that goes into making a film of this magnitude is flat-out insane, its a true shame that this kind of work doesn't go into modern films. Lawrence Of Arabia is a visually arresting and searingly beautiful piece of work that hypnotizes and dazzles throughout. An incredible tour de force of epic battle sequences, nonstop adventure, captivating tension, suspenseful storytelling and unmatched realism. Gripping, spellbinding, glamorous, outstanding, remarkable, inspirational and bold filmmaking throughout. The true story of the enigmatic British officer T.E. Lawrence and his escapade to unite various Arabian sects and lead them into battle against the Turks during World War 1. One of the greatest World War 1 films out there, it's both historically significant and accurate. A spectacle of the grandest proportions, an absolute must-see for every individual on the planet. A brilliantly produced and flawlessly executed piece of crystal-clear genius.
It stars Peter O' Toole in his breakout role as T.E. Lawrence, and he gives a bombastically enthusiastic performance throughout. A legendary role that he played to near perfection and without flaw. Also starring Alec Guineas who delivers throughout. Omar Sherif is brilliant as well as Anthony Quinn. A spectacular cast for a grand film, this is complete and absolute perfection.
