Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by C H — 28 Mar 2013
So here it is 50 years later and I've finally seen this movie, and on the big screen no less. You hear about the rave reviews and how great the cinematography is and the great performances by the actors, and for once they are all correct.
This was definitely one movie I'm glad I waited to watch on the big screen because a TV could not do justice to the remastered Super Panavision 70 wide shots of the deserts and rocky terrain in this film.
The stand out performance of course is by Peter O'Tool as T.E. Lawrence, he plays him in such an interesting way that you can never be sure if he is crazy or just lucky. Maurice Jarre's score was excellent as well.
To anyone who wants to know the definition of an epic, this is it.
