My mother mated with a scorpion.

Thomas Lawrence during World War 1 travels across the Arabian Desert trying to unite numerous clans to help modernize them. He doesn't follow anyone else's agenda; he kind of follows his own. He has his own visions for how the people should do things; and despite not being on the same page as any one group, his efforts are recognized as being in most people's best interest and they follow his lead. Ultimately, will Lawrence's behaviors catch up to him or will he accomplish his goal of uniting a nation?

"You're using up your nine lives.".

David Lean, director of The Bridge on the River Kwai, A Passage to India, Doctor Zhivago, Oliver Twist (1948), and Expectations (1946), delivers Lawrence of Arabia. The storyline for this picture is very interesting and contains some fierce battles. The political components are a bit dry but the scenes are epic and vast and the plot is worthwhile. The cast delivers excellent performances and includes Peter O'Toole, Anthony Quinn, Alec Guinness, and Jack Hawkins.

"You trouble me like a woman.".

Lawrence of Arabia is a film I finally got around to seeing (I had never seen it before). The film contains a brilliant main character that is unpredictable and very eccentric. The action scenes were great and the story is compelling. I did feel that the film ran a little long and the political components were fairly boring but as an overall film this was entertaining.

"You are an impotent bastard.".

Grade: B.
