A very violent and bloody crime drama, Lawless is not for the faint of heart. John Hillcoat directs this prohibition epic, and much like his other works, he always seems to show the reality and horror of violence, rather than the glory and control that other movies give it.
Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain and Shia LeBouf are all spectacular here. But the real scene stealer is Guy Pearce as one of the most memorable and terrifying villains in recent history. Simply a must watch.
