Review of Lawless (2012) by Adam W — 03 Dec 2014
There's nothing bad per-say about this film (well apart from Hardy's mumbling...seriously he might as well have kept the Bane mask on) it's just that it never really clicks. LaBeouf's character follows an unlikely and unbelievable development trajectory and Pearce's character is too much cartoon villain to be menacing.
Swathes of the film seem pointless, Oldman's character for instance? Why is he even in the film? This feels like a 3 hour slow-burner that's been butchered to try to succeed at the box office.
It doesn't work I'm afraid.
