Review of Lawless (2012) by James W — 27 Jun 2013

A very slow paced movie that doesn't end up gaining any sort of momentum or excitement. Despite the fantastic cast Lawless boasts, with Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain completely stealing the show, there's nothing else worth digging for, the characters all have their different motives but most of them are forgettable, I ended up not caring who survived or the outcome of the film's end.

Cinematography is stunning but it's mostly shots of foliage and empty baron roads, and there's a total lack of action, worst of all there aren't many acts of a lawless nature. A bit of a disappointment, this should hit much harder.
