Review of Law Abiding Citizen (2009) by Jedi C — 08 Dec 2012
Good on its own criminal level, yes, but after turning out to be good, things turn out to be too thin and brainless. But After Clyde Shelton loses his family to unknown murderers, he saws them and injects-kills them to avenge himself and his family, but then he starts killing Nick Rice's (Jamie Foxx) friends and Police force to show them what its like to lose someone important then he takes it WAY too far in less than 108 minutes. If he got his revenge, why is he senselessly killing people that have no meaning to the plot? The clever, but continuously brainless violence keeps distracting the movie from a reason for Clyde's desire for justice against Nick Rice and the Police which kind of thins the plot.
And more importantly, did the ending really have to brainless? They did not need to put a bomb under his bed to kill him, they should of negotiated with him on why he killed people brainlessly despite his clever tactics and Nick and Clyde could of made a better deal. He wanted to give the family murderers the death penalty in which the Police Department refused, and so Clyde became the bad guy. Would the police have given him the death penalty or did Nick and Clyde finally have enough? Good movie, destructive ending. They should of tried way better than this. I will continue to watch this movie, but I will always skip the ending.
~6.5/10.
