Americans are so really scared of terrorism and any activity that hints to it after the September 11, 2001 attack. It's understandable anyway and it's not a fault. That is the reason why films like Dog Day Afternoon were critically appreciated while good films like John Q(2001) and this receive such flak. Both the latter films, especially John Q supports a kind of so called terrorism in some way, which is only due to the circumstances that are unveiled in the story line. Law Abiding Citizen is not anything like what I have seen recently. The real hero of this film is Gerald Butler who gives a convincing performance. He is a man who is denied his justice by people who were meant to give it to him. So he makes a masterful plan and does his vengeance on the entire system. In the first half, the terrorism seems to be justified, but as time passes on the incidents that occur onscreen makes the audience question it. It's obviously needed for a film. This one is not a thought provoking film, but it's a good drama.
