Review of L'Avventura (1960) by Andrey B — 15 Oct 2017
Alienation pierces this movie like a needle, it feels everywhere: all those close and at the same time distant islands, barren landscapes, cold sea, deserted places beautiful in their forlorness. Even the summer seems like a late cold autumn, it doesn't warm, nor does the love that characters constantly talk about seem to be a live feeling, it's as dead for them as rocks on dead islands.
Antonioni beautifully conveys loneliness as a disease.
