Review of Laurel Canyon (2003) by Alejandro A — 08 Oct 2009
A movie, whose story was potentially interesting, exploring a generational conflict in a dysfunctional relationship between mother and son, but that does not deliver like it should. The script gets loose, and the subplots are not developed enough.
I liked it anyway, in the sense of feeling myself related with the scenario, as a son of musicians, as a son of a very opened mind parents. I found very funny the familiar situation of a girlfriend struggling with a non-traditional family-mother, being seduced or scared at the same time, losing control or opening her mind.
. Once more, it is one of those films that touch the surface of the reality of the sons of a very interesting generation, but in some point it was just weak, not because the great cast, but because the writers.
. Storyline failed. Good subject anyway.
