Review of Latter Days (2004) by John T — 30 Aug 2008
This was a good gay love story between a slut and a Mormon... yeah, no shit. It's pretty good, maybe this was made as a statement that God doesn't hate gays... It was pretty religious. I also liked how a religion that teaches love and acceptance, really weren't that accepting...
I'm not going to lie, I watched this because my favorite actor is in it (Joseph Gordon-Levitt (from 3rd rock, Manic, ext). He did an awesome job, but that's a given, he's bad ass.
The beginning scene where they're in the car and you see it in high speed (yeah it's been done) but it's bad ass and it gets points.
This is about Mormons, who are kind of sheltered, having to see the real world, and gays. It was pretty good. If you know any LDS kids there is a lot of things that are in this that you might not know/get if you don't.. yeah.. I'm not sure who this was geared towards. I mean who was the audience, gay Mormons? hmm... wonder how many of those there are. Seriously, they even had the shitty religious rock music in the back. WTF??? Seriously... I don't get it. Mormons aren't really allowed to watch this... so why with the shitty religious rock... ??? One scene later you see 2 naked guys for like 5 minutes.
"How come if God talks to Joseph Smith he's a prophet, but if God talks to me I'm schizophrenic?" "...He was sort of special...".
"Men don't love. Women bring love the the relationship.".
