Review of Late Spring (2014) by Gabriel D — 18 Mar 2013
Late Spring is a masterpiece, trumping anything Ozu had made up to this point. It's success lives not in its technique as much as how simple the story is, yet how gripping it manages to become. So many shots are breathtaking, not for their inherent beauty, though they have it, but for their emotional resonance and meaning.
