Review of Late Night (2019) by Jluis_001 — 15 Nov 2019
Although I understand that the social commentary of this story was lighten with a comedy tone, perhaps a little more plot strength wouldn't have been bad, however it works fine enough, mostly because the subject is pretty relevant and because of Emma Thompson. I'm sorry, it's not that Mindy Kaling does things wrong at all but Thompson is the one who stands out.
There are cliches and it was to be expected. The plot structure implied it from the beginning but as I said, it helps a lot that the topic is quite relevant today and that despite the mistakes it never lets it decay and after all that behind the scenes atmosphere despite not feeling completely genuine, in this story is still humorously successful.
