Review of L'Atalante (1934) by Darryl J — 07 Jun 2008
I thought I would end up hating this because I was wondering where the movie was going the entire first half. When I finally settled into the pace of the movie, I started to enjoy it more. It's a extremely simple story of newlyweds. I was won over by the end.
The directing was really great along with the cinematography.
It's worth watching just to look at Dita Parlo. There is an especially racy part near the end that is pretty crazy since it was done in 1934.
P.S. - It's one of my favorite directors,Truffaut, favorite movies!
