Review of Last Vegas (2013) by Orlando O — 30 Jan 2014
Last Vegas has the charm and a great cast but it never lets up with redundant humor and predictable plot.
Billy (Michael Douglas), Paddy (Robert De Niro), Archie (Morgan Freeman), and Sam (Kevin Kline) have been friends for years. Billy plans on getting married to a 30-year-old girlfriend. All four friends come together to go to Las Vegas and relive their fun days.
The plot felt like a rehash of The Hangover mixed with older casts. It is one of those predictable comedies that you may see how the ending will play out. The sub plots of the movie with the four friends running into Diana (Mary Steenburgen), which they all happily got to know her and was able to connect with.
Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline are all great actors. There performances were all mediocre with their uninteresting characters.
Jon Turteltaub's film about an old group of friends that have difficulties in adjusting on how everything has changed in the modern time. He does tend to use that concept for some humor. It can be funny and boring as it becomes overused throughout. Last Vegas is an okay comedy film, which at times it can be kind of dull, but there are some fun moments.
