I?m not sure why I waited this long to check out this well regarded Bertolucci film, I?d heard a lot of misleading descriptions that made it sound really pretentious. The film isn?t really pretentious and I need to quite worrying about that because 90% of the time someone says that about a movie it isn?t true.
Marlon Brando is really good here, and so is Maria Schneider. The film is still shocking, but I can?t imagine how crazy it must have been when it first came out, as it gets imitated a lot. It tells an interesting character story, and while I wouldn?t call it a masterpiece it is definitely a film I won?t forget soon.
