Review of Last Tango in Paris (1972) by Themumblelover . — 20 Mar 2015
A film that stands along as probably Brando's best performance since streetcar. Brando is astonishing in this, whenever he's on screen the acting the presence is palpable, when he's not and were watching the couple the film dips dramatically. The scene when Brando's character talks to his dead wife is one of those moments in film that you witness true art in acting.
The film is well directed letting the camera just hold and capture the moments between the two main characters, their stories, humour and differences. Paul still coming to terms with his wife's suicide wants and needs to reject the outside world, a pure existence of their moment of the now nothing must penetrate the inner sanctum of this world inside four walls. A great an electrically charged movie.
