Review of Last Tango in Paris (1972) by Willem W — 01 Nov 2007
A masterpiece that looks deeply into how people use each other, how sexuality can be a mirror we use to simply stare at ourselves. A dark, troubled, revealing performance by Marlon Brando, who defines what it is to be fearless as an actor.
This is a jazzy, loose, exhilarating look at the difference between youth and age, experience and innocence, optimism and grim resignation. Depressing? Not if you have half a brain (and genitals).
