Review of Last Tango in Paris (1972) by Aubrey C — 02 Nov 2007
By far Bertolucci's finest film. In it he dissects the great American love story and exposes the underlying doubt and pain. While turning this idealized view upside down, he explores the baseness of want and desire.
Brando gives the finest performance o9f his career. The scene over his dead wife's body is quite possibly the most emotionally powerful scene ever captured on film.
