Review of Last Tango in Paris (1972) by Byron R — 23 Dec 2007
Heard about this movie for years before seeing it. I thought it would be slow, over-rated, and possibly boring. That's the view I've had of Bernardo Bertolucci's films for awhile. As it turns out, it was really gripping, visceral, and depressing, which is what I always look for in a movie.
Brando is excellent here. I was surprised that he speaks French for a good percentage of the film. The rest all total method acting. It was great.
