Review of Last Tango in Paris (1972) by Drew H — 24 Dec 2011
This controversial "X-rated" film isn't quite as shocking as it was back in 1972 (the movie would probably receive an R-rating with today's MPAA) but it certainly hasn't lessened it's message of the dangers and pleasures in anonymous sex.
The gallows humor also holds up well, and Brando's layered performance is one of the actor's very best. Despite some unnecessary subplots, Last Tango in Paris should be considered a minor masterpiece.
