Review of Last Ounce of Courage (2012) by Cassidy S — 14 Sep 2012
I pride myself on being very strict when it comes to movies, particularly religious ones. So, I felt surprised that I liked this one so much. It takes a very powerful and emotional film to even get me teary-eyed, but when a film can make me feel so much emotion towards the characters that I actually cry, I usually feel that the movie has done its job. I felt the message was definitely legitimate. I do have 2 criticisms, however.
1. The angel wasn't entirely necessary. I did like the radio thing at the end, but he was in every couple scenes, which seemed unneeded.
2. To me, the actor who played Hammerstein was a little over the top. His acting was a bit too... Well, Shatner. Now, I love Shatner, but still.
I don't really feel that these took away from the film, hence my 5/5, and I really don't understand why the critics panned this one do badly. I definitely feel it's worth a watch, and I'm really disappointed at how little the turnout was, at my theater at least. I will definitely recommend it to friends and will absolutely buy it when the DVD is released.
