Review of Last of the Dogmen (1995) by Martin D — 30 Jan 2012
This is a solid movie, and beautifully filmed. However the voice-over by Wilfred Brimley is horrendously bad. It is trite, and for the most part utter nonsense. It was very quickly obvious that the voice-over was an after-thought by paranoid hollywood execs who are afraid we American's can't handle long stretches of silence and scenery (the very thing that sets the mood and makes this a good movie), and that we have to be told what to think every step of the way.
If you can possibly manage it, do yourself a favor and acquire the UK release of this film. It's the same movie - minus the voice over.
