I think most people know by now that this is a retelling of Fistful of Dollars, which is in turn a retelling of Yojimbo. The movie isn't all bad, but it just doesn't work. I think largely the problem is Bruce Willis.
Instead of making it his own he's just channeling Eastwood into his performance. The action is typical Walter Hill; Endless ammo clips, lots of people dying and buckets of blood.
