The movie is about honor. About those that have it and those that do not. The Critics Consensus just goes to show they are full cgi when it comes to the "well-worn-sword-and-sandal tropes," If you like action movies with decent sword play, emotion, and sacrifice this movie is for you.

Both the men and the woman are portrayed as strong people welling to do what is needed to be done in order to ensure that their little peace of justice/honor prevails. The world is not under threat of destruction, no robots fighting robots, and not every good guy will come out unscathed.
