Though it succeeds with a simple, uncomplicated story, it also suffers from simple characters with little development. The terrific cast was unfortunately a shade underutilized, though kudos must be given for the diverse choice of actors.
The blend of eastern and western historical touches to power the fantasy was inspired and invigorating. There's more right going on in this film than going wrong; but the wrongs feel jarring and stand out while what's being done right are subtleties.
Over all, I enjoyed the film; but I also feel it missed it's full potential.
