Review of Last Days in Vietnam (2014) by Travis P — 09 May 2015
A heart pumping drama that it also a true story. This picks up where your middle school history class left off, whether you went to middle school in the US or Vietnam.
Did you know that the only thing holding the treaty together after 1973 was Nixon? I sure didn't. As soon as Congress impeached him, the North started steamrolling south. Congressional war-fatigue, political hubris on the part of top officials, dwindling morale and materiel in South Vietnam, all combine to create a desperate situation for American collaborators in Saigon. But then. US Army captains who smuggle people out against orders. South Vietnamese pilots who ferry refugees onto US destroyers too small to land on. Marine pilots and guards, naval officers, sailors.
