Review of Last Days (2005) by Pruepat S — 20 Sep 2009
I went into this really wanting to like it, but aside from some interesting use of different time frames to show certain scenes from different angles, the immersive approach to dropping us into the life of a troubled rock star on the verge of taking his own life is just....kinda boring.
Pitt captures the look of the late Kurt Cobain rather well, and for a time his quiet, muttering mannerisms are interesting, as is his Groucho-esque scamperings from room to room of the mansion to avoid other people, but my patience wore this about and hour into the film, so I was left to check my watch for the last 40-something minutes or so.
Probably for Gus Van Sant completists only, sorry.
