Review of Last Days (2004) by Jonathan M — 08 Aug 2007
I settled on watching this movie late one night when I saw a friend of mine had starred in it. Last Days is a film that documents the final days of a Seattle musician whose drug addiction leads him down a pathway of self-destruction.
Defined influences taken from the life of Kurt Cobain can be found in the plot. There is a lot of art in the direction of this film. Gus Van Sant delivers a pointless movie that has little direction to reflect the leading character's pointless lifestyle.
There are times when the film grows tiring and rather agonizing to watch, but from a directing standpoint, there are some tremendous techniques Van Sant uses. That said, the film is not one I would want to watch again.
