Review of Last Days (2004) by Jeff H — 10 Nov 2007
Beautiful. Don't expect a rock biopic akin to the "The Doors", don't expect a sweeping epic of the of life of Kurt Cobain...Really, don't expect much of a plot at all. This is a boring, monotonous take on the last hours of a jaded, doped up rocker's life.
I began the film absolutely hating the concept, but as the credits roll I realized once again Van Sant's brilliance. Not intending to sound snide, after the drawn out, whimpering ode to suicide, at the end of the film you feel like killing yourself as well.
And guess what, that's the intent.
