An eerie peak at the life of a clincially depressed rock n roll star. Just like his movie "Elephant", Van Sant mixes and matches the specific details of each key character; thus avoiding any unwanted and legitimate criticism from certain quarters.
Ultimately, you have to be willing to appreciate Cobain's hatred of privacy invasion to appreciate the film - there are very few 'rock and roll cliches'.
