Review of Last Days (2004) by Chris H — 10 Jan 2008
Gus Van Sant has a habit of overindulging his films with symbolism and scenes that almost require a decryption key to understand.
That being said, it's an ambitious foray into the final days of fictitious rock star in his prime "Blake" who's character is obviously based heavily on Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Michael Pitt does a fantastic job of channelling this character.
This movie could've been about half as long, had some of the unnecessary scenes been cut out.
