Watching Last Days is a deadening experience. Unlike in Van Sant's earlier minimalist experiment- Elephant- the beautiful tracking shots and carefully contrived sense of time and place here just seem like wallpaper covering the lack of a real point.
It also reuses the elliptical narrative thing from Elephant in a surprisingly cack-handed way. Autistic.
