Gus Van Sant has never recieved the praise he deserves. His films are experimental, yet stunning. Real, believable, character driven, and original. No wonder most of America doesn't know who he is or what films he's directed and written, because he's a good real artist.
Last Days is a great film. The entire thing makes you hold your breath.
