Review of Last Days (2004) by Sean J — 09 Jul 2009
Very haunting, occasionally funny. It's a mood piece and more of an observation than a story. I've never like Michael Pitt but here, he was bearable. I actually liked this film - it's very odd but captivating.
It features a lot of Van Sant's signature elements: gorgeous cinematography, the long shots following the protagonist from behind, the shots edited to show two different perspectives on the same scene - I love it.
It may be tedious at times but because I was so engaged, I thought the details were fantastic.
