Review of Last Chance Harvey (2008) by Paulf — 04 Feb 2009
If Last Chance Harvey had anything going for it it was that in many ways it seemed to touch upon real life issues. The story wasn't earth shaking, or the drama nail biting, but it had a realness to it that in the end made watching this film a worth while experience.
This is definitely not for children or teeny boopers, not because it had anything too adult for their eyes to watch but simply it catered to an older crowd. As an man getting close to his forties I could really identify with his job issues and how they related to his insecurities.
I could relate to his issues with broken families and his strained but still loving relationship with his daughter. As someone still single I also related to his desire to change, for something new in his life; But also identified with Emma's caution of not wanting to jump in too fast.
In short this film spoke to me, not in a powerful hit me over the head way but in a simple nod of the head way that might work its way in further as time continues on.
