Review of Last Chance Harvey (2008) by D G — 30 Jul 2009
Uncomfortably awkward from the get-go, it devolves to an even more sad and depressing tone. And then the two main characters meet. Hoffman and Thompson are simply fantastic. I don't think any conveys genuine, believable emotion better than Emma Thompson.
She was utterly magnificent in this film (as she is in most) -- she may very well be my favorite actress. This film just worked remarkably well, in no small part because of the wonderful chemistry between Harvey (Hoffman) and Kate (Thompson).
I loved it.
