Review of Last Chance Harvey (2008) by Jen A — 14 Jan 2010
Essentially a rom-com for old people. But that's OK. Old people need rom and com too. It's also of a greater quality than most of the standard rom-com dross churned out by Hollywood these days.
It's a story of characters rather than plot. That does mean that it can get a little ponderous (boring) at times but there's no doubt that you end up caring for the characters as people rather than stereotypes.
Emma Thompson is an absolute gem. So much so that despite the title this really isn't Harvey's film - it's Kate's (and her mum's!).
