Review of Last Action Hero (1993) by Gordon T — 11 Jan 2010
Again, "they're" full of it when "they" review movies.
LAST ACTION HERO IS WHOLE LOT OF FUN . . . it is Woody Allen's PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO starring SCHWARZENEGGER instead of Jeff Daniels.
LAST ACTION HERO is "silly and stupid" because it parodizes all of the "silly and stupidest" moments of action films up to 1993.
At the time a lot of people didn't like this because it was "too weird" having a guy leap out of a movie screen and into the real world. "Screw 'them"" I say because its a lot of fun.
The casting is a little strange; it feels like the actors weren't the filmmakers' first choices, perhaps the first-choice actors got cold-feet because of LAST ACTION HERO'S "stupid-concept.".
Its the only film I like in pan & scan as well as in 2.35:1 aspect ratio widescreen. AWESOME soundtrack as well.
