Review of Last Action Hero (1993) by Gary C — 05 Mar 2010
What I love about this movie is just how much it pokes fun at its own genre. The bad puns and ridiculous action are all perfect. I especially like how cars inexplicably explode in midair.
After spending a majority of the movie in another action movie and being goofy and completely ridiculous, they come into the real world and take a more serious turn. It somehow fits in with the movie very well.
One thing I didn't really like was that the main kid was kind of annoying. But I can live with him. Also, the premise was just a bit too goofy.
But I can definitely accept the premise to get to see some great and extremely funny action consisting of lots of gunfire and many oversized explosions given to me by the great action movie maker, John McTiernan.
