Review of Last Action Hero (1993) by Siri H — 20 Apr 2009
"Last Action Hero" is from that string of films Arnie did playing with his image as a though action guy to broaden his repertoire, which also include dubious films such as "Twins", "Kindergarten Cop", "Junior" and "True Lies".
"Last Action Hero" is a film for kids, then, and while it is easy to cringe at the sight of Arnie doing comedy with an annoying kid in tow, one must not judge it too harshly. As a kiddie film I guess it's OK: nice and engaging narrative and plot, with about just the right amount of violence and explotions.
It's amusing to see Arnie playing himself whoring Planet Hollywood at every oppertunity, and Charles Dance is an excellent villain. But a far cry from Arnie's greatest moments, this one.
