Review of Last Action Hero (1993) by Don A — 27 Mar 2011
When this movie first came out it took a lot of heat. It was completely unlike any other movie before and with Schwarzenegger attached to it, it took everyone by surprise by not being a straight foward action movie.
but by trying to mock Hollywood action films. It had a story line that actually made one think and pay attention in order to appreciate the paradoxes arising from its premise. There were enough tongue in cheek cameos and the movie was ahead of its time.
This type of film parody gave rise to movies like "Tropic Thunder" 20 years later. For the one liners and cameos this movie is a 4 star.
