I will defend Last Action Hero to the ends of time. It's a biting satire of summer action movies while also being a summer action movie. Its funny in all the right places. The action, while cartoonish, is fun and loud.
The screenplay is self aware and intelligent. It's a movie that got the wrong press, a film that was actually making a point, a good point about the absurdity that is escapism.
