Review of Laserblast (1978) by Todd P — 07 Mar 2010
To paraphrase what Tom Servo from MST3K said, this movie takes place in some inverted, bizarro universe where the spazzes (in this case, King of Nerds Eddie Deezen) pick on the cool guys (the late Kim Milford, who looks like a scruffy dorky cross b/w Luke Skywalker and Dr.
Chase from "House, MD"). (Actually, a world where nerds pick on cool guys is a good analogy for the Internet but I digress). That incongruity b/w film reality and actual reality doesn't make this film any good, however.
Nor that the aliens look like turtles w/ no shells, or something off of a Yes album cover. Incredibly, Leonard Maltin ranked this film HIGHER than "Taxi Driver" and "Being There" (a little fact that the MST3K crew noted and mocked).
